Zilla Fatu has signed with WWE and made his on-screen debut, interrupting the main event contenders match on the August 11 episode of NXT and making his intentions for the NXT Championship clear as the show closed. Reports from Fightful and F4WOnline indicate he had been working out of the WWE Performance Center, with a deal understood to have been in the works since June.
Fatu is the son of the late WWE star Umaga (Eddie Fatu) and a member of the storied Anoa’i and Fatu wrestling family, a lineage that includes Roman Reigns, The Usos and Solo Sikoa. Before signing, he had built his reputation on the independent circuit, largely with the Houston-based Reality of Wrestling promotion founded by his uncle Booker T.
Elsewhere on the night, AEW aired Dynamite from Las Vegas, where MJF defeated Nick Wayne and Mike Bailey to claim the number two spot in the All In Casino Gauntlet. Separately, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross drew widespread support from the wrestling community ahead of a scheduled medical procedure.
