Tomohiro Ishii

Tomohiro Ishii is wrestling's stone pitbull — a squat, neckless force of nature who has spent two decades turning every match into a war of attrition. New Japan's ultimate gatekeeper elevates everyone he faces: beating Ishii means something, and surviving him means almost as much.

Though championship reigns have been sparse — NEVER Openweight gold his signature — his G1 Climax performances are annual festivals of forearms, headbutts and refusal to fall. His matches with Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, Shingo Takagi and Katsuyori Shibata are canonical: masterclasses of escalation built from nothing but will.
