Yota Tsuji

Yota Tsuji returned from his New Japan excursion in 2023 as the most complete of the promotion's new generation — a swaggering, thick-chested athlete with a Gene Blaster spear, lucha-influenced flourishes from his Mexican training and a natural villain's smirk. His debut challenge to Sanada announced the Reiwa era's arrival.

As part of Los Ingobernables de Japon, Tsuji's rise has been methodical: G1 Climax standout performances, a Global Championship run, and finally the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, seizing New Japan's top prize as the flagbearer of its future.

With Shota Umino and Ren Narita, he forms the three-way rivalry New Japan is betting its next decade on — and Tsuji has consistently looked like the safest bet. WrestleRanks voters rank him accordingly: the new ace, no longer in waiting.
