Sami Zayn is once again the Undisputed WWE Champion. On the September 11, 2026 episode of SmackDown, held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Zayn defeated CM Punk to capture the title for the second time in his career.
The finish came amid outside interference. Kevin Owens grabbed the championship and attempted to strike Zayn, but accidentally hit Punk instead. Zayn capitalized with a low blow followed by a Helluva Kick to score the pinfall, with Johnny Gargano also caught up in the chaos surrounding the match.
The result leaves the WWE title picture wide open heading into the fall, with Randy Orton among those already positioning for a shot. Elsewhere on the card, Chelsea Green retained her title and Paige faced Nikki Bella, but the night belonged to Zayn and his surprise championship victory.
