A wave of former WWE talent officially reached free agency this week after their 90-day non-compete clauses expired on July 23. The group includes the Motor City Machine Guns, Kairi, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, Hijo del Fantasma, Zoey Serrano, Erick Rowan and Bo Dallas, among others. All were released by WWE in the spring and are now free to negotiate with other promotions.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, at least seven wrestlers are currently waiting to be signed by AEW, though the specific names and timing of any deals have not been confirmed. Kairi and Vega are viewed as among the most sought-after talents on the market, while the Motor City Machine Guns are seen as a strong fit for AEW's tag-team division.
The free-agency news comes as AEW prepares for Redemption, its first pay-per-view in Montreal, on July 26. On the WWE side, SummerSlam programming continued this week with qualifying matches for an interim Women's Championship ladder match and Nick Aldis agreeing to relinquish his SmackDown General Manager role as part of his match with Gunther.
