Matt Cardona

Matt Cardona wrote wrestling's best self-publishing story. As Zack Ryder in WWE, he turned YouTube hustle into an Internet Championship movement and a United States title when the company would not push him; released in 2020, he rebuilt himself as the Indy God — the deathmatch-embracing, always-booked king of the independent scene.

His GCW Deathmatch run shocked purists, his NWA World Championship win proved the reinvention had range, and his self-aware Always Ready branding made him wrestling's busiest free agent. Few wrestlers have ever monetized rejection so thoroughly.
