Wrestler Profile

Randy Savage

Macho Man Randy Savage combined legitimate in-ring brilliance with a raspy-voiced intensity that made him one of the most imitated personalities in wrestling history. A second-generation star, Savage arrived in the WWF in 1985 with Miss Elizabeth at his side and immediately became its most compelling act.

His WrestleMania III match against Ricky Steamboat — meticulously planned move-for-move — is often cited as the match that inspired a generation of wrestlers. Savage won the WWF Championship in a tournament at WrestleMania IV, feuded memorably with Hulk Hogan as the Mega Powers exploded, and later added a WCW run with world titles and an nWo chapter.

Savage died in 2011 and was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015. The cream of the crop, as he'd say, and WrestleRanks all-time voters keep him near the top of it.
