Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn is wrestling's great empathy machine — a performer who makes audiences care as instinctively as anyone of his era. As El Generico on the independents, he was a beloved masked high-flyer; as Zayn in NXT, his championship chase against Shinsuke Nakamura and Kevin Owens built the brand's emotional foundation.

His career-long rivalry-friendship with Kevin Owens is modern wrestling's best double act, but Zayn's crowning arc came in the Bloodline: the Honorary Uce storyline, his Elimination Chamber betrayal of Roman Reigns in his hometown of Montreal, and the tag title win with Owens at WrestleMania 39 produced some of WWE's most emotional television ever.

He finally claimed singles gold by ending Gunther's historic Intercontinental reign at WrestleMania 40. A masterful underdog with a union organizer's fire, Zayn is a perennial WrestleRanks favorite whose stock rises every time a story needs a heart.
